Blue Valentines presents Fox Jaw at Café Sessions Chapter 1 Special Guest: Janice Igoe Thursday: 03 March 8pm Adm: Suggested donation €5 unwaged €3 Assisted by Cavan Co. Council Arts Awards & The Anglo Celt. Fox Jaw dive head first into 2016 with the release of their new single ‘Do You Want It All?’, a slick rock & roll number, which grows and swells in its complexity and excitement. Taken from their new, as of yet untitled EP, coming out in September 2016. With over 300 shows, 8 Singles, 5 Vinyls Releases, 2 Albums, 2 EPs, countless festival appearances, TV appearances, Magazine Covers, Music Video Awards, Album Of The Year Awards, and only one flat tyre … Fox Jaw have been bringing their signature brand of rock and roll to audiences across Europe & North America for the last 10 years. Described as ‘a modern band with an old soul’, they have a swaggering trend-shaking growl, but always kept it sweet and melodic with an honest collection of dark pop songs. Praised as “True hidden gems” (state.ie), 2014 proved to be their most successful year to date with the release of their 2nd album, ‘Ghost’s Parade’. With an impressive amount of airplay, raising many eyebrows in the music industry, ‘Ghost’s Parade’ is an album in full sonic technicolor, verifying the bands ability & love for a plethora of genres, above and beyond the pigeon holes many set for them. Recorded with producer Dave ‘Skippy’ Christophers (Josh Ritter, Whipping Boy, Mundy) & engineer Owen Lewis (Flogging Molly, Snow Patrol, REM), and mastered at Wav Mastering by Richard Dowling (David Bowie, Foo Fighters, Interpol). Fox Jaw have played such festivals as: Indie Week (Toronto & Ireland), Castlepalooza, AranMojo, Glasgowbury, Vantastival, Arthur’s Day, Knockanstockan, Indiependence, Sea Sessions & more… They’ve shared the stage with such acts as: Against Me!, Therapy?, And So I Watch You From Afar, Alabama 3, The Redneck Manifesto, Jape, Hayseed Dixie, HamsandwicH, Director, Fight Like Apes, Calvin Harris, The Feeling & many more. “Majestic full-band rock with a distinct Irish touch.” – Nialler9 “A jaw-dropping album release … One of the finest Irish rock albums of the year” – The Irish Daily Mirror “Oscillating between bluesy hymns dripping with bass lines and good old-fashioned rock’n’roll-around-in-the-mud, Fox Jaw are punchier and sassier than your grandma after several cheeky sherries … Fox Jaw represent the future of Ireland alternative rock bands.” – Itcher Magazine (UK) “An exciting sound that’s unquestionably their own.” – Hotpress “One listen to Fox Jaw’s second album and it’s impossible to figure out what genre they fall under … Therein lies the beauty of the Limerick quintet … Such inconsistency should be catastrophic, but Fox Jaw triumphantly embrace their weirdness” – The Irish Times “Epic” – The Irish Star “Solid songwriting with enough originality that puts them on the cusp of breaking … Fox Jaw are able to produce accessible rock songs that feel familiar while simultaneously finding their own signature sound … Highly recommended.” – The Equal Ground (USA) “Songs that they can happily bring anywhere, and win audiences with ease … They’ve carved out a sound that stays away from anything else that’s around right now.” – Dan Hegarty / 2FM Janice Igoe is a native of Cootehill Co. Cavan, where she has remained its best kept secret, She is a singer of immense talent with a purity of voice and richness of tonality that is simply beautiful. Her interpretation of her songs is both deeply emotional and intelligent. She has remained an enigmatic figure for years, rarely performing (apart from the rare appearance such as singing for the President Mary McAleese ) always singing and refining her art.For those who have heard her sing you would swear that she has been performing at the highest level for the past twenty years Matt Molloy described her as having a rare and wonderful voice, and that her version of "The Parting Glass" is simply the best he has ever heard.
