Mid- Summer Classical Concert

After the success of their Culture Night Concert in September 2015, Castletown Accordion Orchestra will host a Mid-Summer Classical Concert in the Ramor Theatre on Saturday 18th June at 8.30pm. Pieces by Piazzola, Shostakovich, a new arrangement of Seagate Overture as well as more contemporary popular works like Bohemian Rhapsody will be included in their programme. Guest artists for the night will include Pianist Eadaoin Copeland. Eadaoin is currently a student of Raymond Keary at the Royal Irish Academy of Music Dublin and the Orchestra would like to wish her good luck as she heads off to study for a Masters in Instrumental Repetiteurship in September at the Conservatorium in Amsterdam. Eadaoin will perform the Bach-Bussory Chaconne. She will also accompany local soprano, Breeda Kenny, who will sing Mise Eire. Two of the orchestra’s Musical Directors, John and Yvonne Chilton will perform music from Il Postino. Our final guest artist Katie Kavanagh, a graduate of the B.Music performance Degree from R.I.A.M. will play a duet, Libertango by Piazzollo with Holly Chilton, an accomplished member of Castletown Accordion Orchestra.
This concert will kick start a very busy few months for the orchestra. They have been invited to perform a concert with the London Accordion Orchestra in London on July 2nd. On Saturday 13th August they will give a concert in Kilkenny as part of The Big Squeeze, Kilkenny Arts Festival. In November they, with members of their Junior and Intermediate orchestras,l travel to Praque to compete in the Praque International Accordion Festival, a competition they have won in the past.
