The 72 Hour Wake
At the heart of the Festival of the Dead, The 72 Hour Wake will provide a context to a range of curated live performances, film, poetry, storytelling, interviews, drama, music, comedy and more. The Wake presents a performance every hour on the hour for 72 hours straight through from Thursday 26th Of October at 7pm to Sunday 29th October at 6pm.

Trish Bennett, Teresa Godfrey, May Morris and Kate O'Shea, our Northern neighbours, are performing in the evening at 9pm
Friday 27 October
Kila will perform in the main hall
John D Kelly is on at 7pm

Freda Donohue, Antoinette Rock, Sandra Hales, Veronica Williams, Antoinette Cahill, Maura Moloney, Eilish Beglan, Teresa Godfrey, Patricia Doole, Brian Leydon and myself are performing at 1pm

Our audience aim is in excess of 2,000 physically at the event. We aim to facebook livestream the event to over 5,000 Facebook on the live stream. We will promote our event to the diaspora and encourage audiences to travel to our event. Using all strands of marketing we will promote this event.
The 72 Hour Wake event will form the heart beat of the Festival of the Dead, which will be symbolised by a burning flame (flame of Promethus) that will remain lit for the 72 hours before it is paraded to its final destination which will signal the start of Promethus - the spectacle performance.
The 72 Hour Wake will be curated by Siobhan Harton and Joe Keenan with the support of a large group of volunteers
Promethus the spectacle performance will happen on Sunday 29th at 8pm.
About the Curators
Siobhan Harton is a Visual Artist, Designer and Co-Curator of trans-art born in Co.Cavan. Her practice mixes an array of disciplines creating unique Installation’s, Sound Art, Drawing, and collage. Siobhans work offers visually stimulating and experimental experiencing multi-layered compositions. Her installations are enhanced by the awakening culture and inspired by experiences.
While working in the field of Interior Architecture, Product and Graphics design. Her designs have led her to win awards, work with award winning architecture practices, guest lecture in Dublin Institute of Technology, IT Sligo, and be an external examiner of design. Siobhan studied Industrial Design at Institute of Technology Sligo, furthered her studies at Dublin Institute of Technology, Mountjoy Square, where she receiving a Honors Degree in Interior Architecture. In 2010 Harton continued to complete a MA in Professional Design Practice from Dublin Intuited of Technology, Bolton Street.
At present Siobhan is working on bring art to the community. Her mission is to help break the barriers of viewing art. In doing this she brings art to the greater community transforming public spaces into works of art allowing people to experience a public space in a new unique way. Some of her more public work was in 2011 transforming Cavan bus station into a “Camera Obscura”, followed by transforming a double decker bus eireann bus in to a “Camera Obsura” allowing over 1,000 visitors to experience the Art work. In 2012 more of Hartons work could be seen on the streets of cavan when she transformed the façade of St Augustine’s Hall, Cavan town into street art piece called “shadows of a love story”.
Hartons belief is that Working through the arts allows for human expression and creativity it helps individuals and communities to open up to change.
