PJ Flood Festival
Weekend of 5th to 7th April 2019, Belturbet, Co Cavan
From Cuilliaghan, Ballyconnell, PJ Flood made a major contribution to traditional Irish music over many years from his early days in the Camalier Flute Marching Band to his music teaching to a multitude of musicians in the region around Ballyconnell and Belturbet. His favourite instrument was the uilleann pipes, but he also played tin whistle, flute and fiddle. PJ sadly passed away on 8th November 2014.
His importance to his local region cannot be underestimated and it is truly fitting that he is honoured through this memorial weekend. The weekend will begin with a talk and an exhibition on PJ and his life. There will be programme of music sessions, CD launch and the memorial concert in the wonderful Town Hall Civic Centre. The weekend will also feature walks and Geopark activities.
Save the date for what promises to be a wonderful weekend in Belturbet.
The PJ Flood festival committee is currently researching for an exhibition on the life and times of PJ. If you have any old photos, newspaper clippings, videos etc. please send a copy to or make contact with us at pjfloodfestival@gmail.com
