CRACKS by Quintessence Theatre Company (in association with An Táin Arts Centre) comes to The Ramor Theatre on Friday 29th March at 8:00pm with a special schools show at 11:00am
A powerful piece of devised theatre from An Tain Arts Centre’s Company-In-Residence exploring the issue of mental illness in Ireland.
I’m falling between the cracks in myself, and I don’t know how to crawl back out…
In this darkly comic and deeply moving new play, an unsuccessful suicide attempt leaves young Leanne Dowd estranged from those she loves and attempting to pick up the pieces of a life still shattered by mental illness.
In Cracks, Quintessence Theatre use their inventive physical ensemble story-telling techniques mingled with film and music to explore the profound struggle individuals with mental illness face on a daily basis in Ireland today.
First devised by the company in 2016 and directed by Anna Simpson (a Creative Associate of the Pleasance and Practitioner with the Globe, London), & fresh off the back of an Island of Ireland Tour in 2018, Cracks seeks to expose the lived experience of battling a severe mental illness in an inefficient and unsympathetic system through the eyes of one young woman.
‘Brave, daring and innovative…has a virtuoso flair and arresting boldness. A substantial piece of theatre’ Peter Hughes, Northern Standard
'Went to see this amazing play last night! I have to say it was brilliant! It portrays a young persons struggle with their mental health and demonstrates how those around also struggle to understand.’ Bairbre Kelly, Counsellor and Psychotherapist:
CAST includes; Leah Rossiter, Anthony Kinahan, Fiona Keenan O’Brien
