Plus the Reveal of the New Poetry Section in the Johnston Library

Poets, Anne Walsh Donnelly, Ann Tannam, Orla Fay and Adam Wyeth are headlining the last AT The Edge, Cavan this year on Tuesday 29 October 2019, 6.30pm,  at the Johnston Library following the ‘reveal’ of the new poetry section donated this summer to the Johnston Library by AT The Edge, Cavan devotees at 6pm.

AT The Edge, Cavan has been operating for six years, bringing poets and writers from all around the country to read in Cavan. It has also brought together a pulsating network of local writers and poets to perform their own work at the open mic. It turns out Cavan has a deep seam of lyric rhythm and rhyme to be mined. The four poets reading this month come from across Ireland and from a diverse range of backgrounds.

Anne Walsh Donnelly lives in Castlebar, Co. Mayo.  Her work has appeared in several literary publications including The Irish Times, Crannog and Boyne Berries. She was nominated for the Hennessy Literary Award in 2019 for her poetry. She is the author of the poetry chapbook “The Woman With An Owl Tattoo” and the short story collection "Demise of the Undertaker's Wife."

Adam Wyeth is an award-winning poet, playwright and essayist. He has three books published. His critically acclaimed debut collection, Silent Music (2011) was Highly Commended by the Forward Poetry Prize. Adam’s second book, The Hidden World of Poetry: Unravelling Celtic Mythology in Contemporary Irish Poetry (2013) contains poems from Ireland’s leading poets followed by sharp essays that unpack each poem and explore its Celtic mythological references. Adam’s third book and second poetry collection The Art of Dying was published with Salmon in November 2016 and was named as an Irish Times Book of the Year. Salmon published his play This Is What Happened in 2019. Adam edits poetry and teaches online creative writing courses at Fishpublishing.ie and adamwyeth.com

Anne Tannam is a Dublin poet with two collections: Take This Life (Wordonthestreet 2011) and Tides Shifting Across My Sitting Room Floor (Salmon Poetry 2017). Her third collection is forthcoming with Salmon Poetry in 2020. Anne’s work has been widely published in literary magazines and journals and has been featured in The Irish Times, RTE, UCD’s Irish Poetry Reading Archives and The Poetry Jukebox. An accredited coach, Anne offers practical and effective support for writers through her business Creative Coaching www.creativecoaching.ie.

Orla Fay is from County Meath and her poetry has featured in a wide range of literary journals, most recently The Bangor Literary Journal, Red Lines, Hennessy New Irish Writing in The Irish Times and Poetry Ireland Review. She was shortlisted in 2017 for The Rush Poetry Competition, The Dermot Healy Poetry Award and The Red Line Book Festival Poetry Competition. In 2018 she was shortlisted in The Over the Edge New Writer of the Year Competition and highly commended in The Jonathan Swift Creative Writing Award. This July her poem The Natural Order featured as a poem of the week in The Irish Times. She is editor of Boyne Berries. She blogs at http://orlafay.blogspot.ie  Twitter@FayOrla
