Cavan County Council Arts Office is hosting a Continuous Professional Development (CPD) workshop entitled Connecting to Creativity and Empowerment with performance psychologist, Gerry Hussey, Soul Space and creativity coach Eimear Crehan, Speak Up Sing Out.

The CPD day will be delivered online on March 10 from 10am to 4pm with two facilitators Gerry Hussey from Soul Space, performance psychologist and Eimear Crehan, creativity coach for Speak Up Sing Out. The morning workshop from 10 am to 12 noon will be delivered by Gerry Hussey. Gerry Hussey has worked in a variety of contexts including preparing and leading teams for success at Olympic Games, Heineken Cups, World Cups, and World and European Championships. In this bespoke session for Cavan Monaghan Arts and Health Forum, Gerry will empower participants to connect with their creativity and inner resilience.

Gerry says “as we remain in an environment where there are a number of unknowns, we must all be clear about how we are going to keep ourselves, our leaders, our teams focussed motivated and above all else, healthy and well”. (Gerry Hussey 10am-12pm) www.soulspace.ie

The afternoon workshop with Eimear Crehan, creativity coach from Speak Up Sing Out will promote understanding of your relationship with your voice and how you express yourself. Participants will explore their creativity and experience a deeper connection to self. The tools and skills shared will help the participant unwind, learn about their voice, improve mood, and have a practical experience of self-expression instantly!

Background

Cavan Monaghan Arts and Health Forum host CPD days to support artists, creatives, community and health leaders who work in the arts, creativity, in community and health settings to support health and well-being in the community.

Cavan Monaghan Arts and Health Forum is a multiagency network consisting of Cavan County Council Arts Office, Social Inclusion Unit and Healthy Ireland, Monaghan County Council Arts Office, Cavan Monaghan Mental Health Service, Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services Woodvale, Mental Health Ireland, Cavan CYPSC, Monaghan CYPSC, Cavan County Local Development CCLD and the Local Arts in Education Partnership CMETB.

Cavan County Council arts office lead out on the formalising and maintenance of this network with the dedicated resource of Arts and Health co-ordinator Kim Doherty. Kim Doherty is an art therapist (thewellwithin.ie) dedicated to wellness through arts projects and interventions.

The network has grown from organic arts work in community and health settings over the years through the pilot programme “When Art Works Well” that formally established the Forum. This work focuses on action research projects with socially engaged artists and building capacity through CPD supporting quality service provision centring on the arts. 2021 provides a relevant context for this type of engagement as creativity and arts experiences provide ways to re-connect both online (initially) and in person (this autumn), following a sustained period of distance and separation.

To book for the morning or afternoon session or both contact ncosgrove@cavancoco.ie.
