Krimea 1896 – an exhibition by Pawel Kleszczewski, opens on Saturday 18 March from 2pm to 5pm.
Krimea is a painting project Pawel Kleszczewski undertook in 2016. It is the sum of his recent inspiration, which include The Crimean War, Communism, Masquerade, Relative Perception Of Time, and Errors Of Counting Systems.
By using these elements he creates figurative paintings, whose ambition is to make that figuration became an abstraction while maintaining the highest possible lightness of painting and expression. Colors used by the artist refer to the morning brightness of the Black Sea Beach, where the sailors from the cruiser Aurora may land.
He wants to see in them the atmosphere of the Ottoman Sublime Porte Riders traversing the steppes, and the Japanese fan decorated with heavy Socialistic realism iconography.
The exhibition runs Wednesday to Saturday 11am – 5pm until Saturday, 1 April.
