About Niki's work:

Niki Purcell is an artist living in an old coastguard's station on the Wicklow Wexford
border. She is highly influenced by this unique location and the ever-changing
wild environment is very evident in her seascapes and landscapes. Purcell's work is
expressionistic and she uses dense layers of paint to reflect the passage of time and
changes wrought on the landscape by the elements. Rather than a depiction of
objective reality her art focuses instead on subjective emotions and is a visceral response
to her surroundings.

Niki regularly exhibits throughout Ireland and her work can be viewed in The Duke
Street Gallery, Dublin, The Dún Laoghaire Art Gallery, Co. Dublin, The Black Canvas
Gallery Holywood, Co. Down and The Gaslamp Gallery Co. Wexford.

Niki will also be doing a painting demonstration on the 22nd of July in the Black Canvas
Gallery, Holywood, Co. Down, from 12 to 3pm http://black-canvas.com/

This exhibition and interview will take place during the Bailieborough Midsummer
Festival which runs from July 21st to July 23rd.
