Fresh from a successful run at Dublin Fringe, The Corps Ensemble come to Townhall Cavan with ‘Close to the Sun’ by Philip Doherty on Saturday, 11 November, at 8pm.
The play stars Mary Murray (Love/Hate) and is the latest creation of two-time winner of RTÉ’s prestigious PJ O’Connor Award for new Irish writing and recent overall winner of the SCRIPTS Ireland’s Playwriting Festival Philip Doherty.
‘Close to the Sun’ explores the connection between Irish and Australian mythology and gives a voice to a lost generation.
Set in Perth, Australia–Irishman Colin (Jed Murray) prepares for his wedding to Australian sweetheart, Sophie, (Mary Murray) but everything changes when his estranged brother appears, bringing demons from their shared past.
The play is directed by Stephen Darcy, produced by Hillary Dziminski and features a cast of emerging and experienced actors including Michael Bates, Sean Doyle, Neill Fleming, Edwin Mullane, and Toni O’Rourke.
Tickets are priced at €18 and can be purchased
