Visiting Artist in Dotti Was A Deer Art Studio Maria Langan, October 4th 8pm-10pm

Maria Langan is a London based photographer, taking much inspiration both from urban surroundings and Irish roots, culture, folklore, landscape and dark sky. Experience from a career working as an intensive care nurse, observing the sometimes blurred line between life and death has created a wonder for how perceptions are shaped in this orderly chaos we call life.
“Relocating to London came at the cost of a compromised view of the night sky. I have a wonder for what lies past the light pollution and seek to observe its glory at any chance of a clear sky. The Doolagh Valley, Co. Mayo is a favourite place to get a glimpse of the magnificent Milky Way or the passing of the International Space Station. On return to urban surroundings, the infinite appears in the most obscure places. I began to photograph it.”
Marias exhibition entitled the Van Alphen Observations is a collection of images factually and fictitiously depicting Space. Coupled with her intrigue for astronomy, cosmology, geometry, the ancient, mystical and unknown, her images explore the minute to infinite, fact to fantasy, and actual to abstract in a bid to unite both cerebral hemispheres. Altering perceptions by altered perspectives.
Join us this Thursday eve at 8pm launch Maria's wall with a glass of wine and a chance to meet the artist.
