The Hacklers new production of ‘On Broken Wings’ by Dermot Healy.

The play opens in a cottage on the Mullet Peninsula. Timothy Lavell sits by the hearth in a cottage in contemporary Ireland. The fireplace opens and in strides his parents and his younger self. We follow Timmy from childhood, including times potato picking in Scotland, wall-building with his father, and as an elevator man in America before returning to the cottage where he was born.

This imaginative interpretation of Dermot Healy’s work is an appropriate honour to the renowned writer who brought the Hacklers to national recognition with his interpretation of ‘Waiting For Godot’ by Sameul Beckett.  Healy’s interpretations of Waiting for Godot won that All Ireland Drama Festival in 1980 and went on to enjoy success at the Peacock Theatre.

On Broken Wings will be performed at Townhall Theatre Cavan on the 12th and 13th of May 2017 at 8pm and in Sligo at a venue to be confirmed.
