Voices of Culture with Mental Health Ireland

Mental Health Ireland, Development Officer Cavan Monaghan Kim Doherty will participate in Voices of Culture Structured Dialogue on "Youth, Mental Health and Culture” on behalf of Mental Health Ireland and Cavan Monaghan Arts and Health Forum.  Mental Health Ireland is the longest established mental health charity in Ireland and is reshaping how the public understand mental health

Voices Of Culture is a structured dialogue between the cultural sector in the European Union and the European Commission.

The third topic of Voices of Culture 2021-2023 will generate project ideas and policy recommendations for the cultural and creative sectors and decision-makers on the topic of the role of the cultural and creative sectors in improving the mental health of young people. This Voices Of Culture topic is taking place in the context of the European Year of Youth 2022

Following this meeting a Brainstorming report, capturing main issues and policy recommendation on the topic, is written collectively by participants. The report will be presented to the European Commission in a Dialogue meeting in Brussels on 08.12.2022.

Voices of Culture Structured Dialogue on "Youth, Mental Health and Culture".

Several areas of discussion will include:

  • Evidence on the contribution of the cultural and creative sectors to improving the mental health and wellbeing of young people, at national and international level.
  • Synergies with other policy fields (health, education, social welfare etc) to maximize results.
  • Examples of interventions where there is robust evidence of successful outcomes, particularly for disadvantaged young people. Conditions for success of such interventions.
