A Focus on English and Irish Poets
Cana House Poetry Workshop
Cana House, Cavan
Saturday 31st Jan – Sat 28 March 2015
2pm – 4pm
An eight week Spring poetry workshop will be facilitated by Kate Ennals every Saturday afternoon from Saturday 31st Jan between 2pm and 4pm in Cana House (behind St Phelim’s School) Farnham St, Cavan Town.
The Spring workshop will discuss specific English and Irish poets each week and on alternate weeks we will workshop the participant’s poems arising from an assignment. The workshop will share views and ideas about the poems. Each week Kate will provide poems for discussion. Poets to be discussed include early English poets (the romantics: Shelley, Shakespeare, Wordsworth), Northern Irish Poets, 20th century Irish poets, the English eccentrics (Auden, Larkin), present day Irish poets, and English Poet Laureates.
The aim is to bring together local poets/writers to stimulate discussion and develop their work and thinking about poetry. The workshop will be informal and relaxed. Participants do not need to have read poetry in the past. It will be a shared and learning experience. The fourth edition of The Cana House poetry pamphlet will be published at the end of the workshop.
The cost is €80 (to be paid at registration). There will be a limit of 10 participants allocated on a first come, first served basis. For further information and to register, contact Kate Ennals on facebook or email email@example.com.
