Dowra Courthouse Creative Space - Studio Opportunity

 
 
Dowra Courthouse was built in 1932.  This significant architectural building was restored in 2014 with funding provided under the Interreg IVA Programme through the Harnessing Natural Resources Project. The building provides:-
 
Studio space, kiln room with an 8cu. ft. kiln, kitchen, lift, an outdoor space and an exhibition room for hosting events, meetings and classes.
 
There is the opportunity to rent one studio space, approximate size 11.5’ x 15.5’, room has 2 windows and sink unit.  The Agreement will be for 3 years with a review after 1 year.  The rent will be €40/month. The successful applicant will be required to co-operate with Dowra Resource Centre Ltd. who is managing the overall building.   Community engagement elements or use of shared spaces must be agreed in advance with Dowra Resource Centre Ltd and any additional costs incurred must be paid for.
 
There are 3 other creative industries in the building, a tourist office and a community space.  
 
Eligibility Criteria
 
Early career artists who are interested in establishing their practice and can demonstrate a     commitment to and qualifications in their specific art form.
 
Professional artists who have an established practice and are recognised by their peers.
 
Creatives working in the creative industry who have an established track record.
 
Artists/Creatives must have a connection to Cavan or be interested in developing their career in the county.
 
Applicants must be over 18 years of age.
 
Must hold public liability insurance of €6.5m and provide specific indemnity to Cavan County Council.
 
 
Selection Criteria
 
Artistic/creative merit of past and current work practice   (20 marks)
 
Potential to further develop the Creative Space and impact the community  (20 marks)
 
Ability to work with other creatives in the overall shared space (10 marks)
 
Please submit C.V. with references, relevant qualifications, proposal including community engagement if this is relevant to your practice and five examples of recent work.
