Based on the recent Planet Youth data, only one third of young people across Cavan and Monaghan are engaging in leisure /or club activities after school. To address this, Cavan and Monaghan Planet Youth Working Group are seeking to deliver an ambitious collaborative project which will provide an increased range of supervised leisure activities to young people (10 years to 24 years). The aim of the project is to increase the number and range of leisure time options to reflect a wide range of young people’s interests and provide them in safe healthy places, outside of formal school hours.

The recruitment of a Cavan Monaghan Preferred Panel is now underway via Cavan Monaghan ETB and we are now inviting individuals, students, professionals and organisations who work/or have an interest in working with young people to submit an Application for the Panel of Programme Providers for the provision, and delivery of increased leisure time youth programmes and activities across both counties. You may have part-time workers or students that would like an additional income - There may be local volunteers/skilled people/providers who could work part-time delivering workshops to young people on a range of activities/hobbies.

Our aim is to provide options to young people who will then choose the activity they would like to participate in, and so we would love to have as many varied activities as possible – e.g. music, drama, sport, coding, arts, crafts, dance as possible. Not everyone on the panel will be guaranteed hours from October to December 2022, but we hope to grow this pilot project across both counties in the coming years.
