A series of workshops will take place in July and August with the actor and contemporary circus performer Kim Mc Cafferty leading to the ensemble development of a performance to celebrate the refurbishment of Townhall, Cavan. This showcase will celebrate the journey that the Peace Programme in Cavan has achieved since the signing of The Good Friday Agreement.
Anybody interested in participating can contact firstname.lastname@example.org / 049 4378549 to register. No previous experience is necessary but please mention any experience, skill or any arts involvement that you may already have.
The workshops will offer the adult participants as a group, the opportunity to learn about physical theatre, show creation and the process involved in making an engaging, poignant piece of theatre. This new theatre piece will explore the legacy of Peace in the border and the wider implications for cultural, social and economic stability in this area and the wider country.
This showcase will arise from a process-based project during which the Kim Mc Cafferty, lead artist will guide local participants in a journey through professional arts practice including the intertwining of Greek chorus with individual stories exploring the impact that the Townhall, Cavan has had on our community through the generations. The showcase will be a site-specific outdoor arts piece incorporating the building and the surrounding site of the Town Hall, Cavan, with physical theatre and corporeal story telling as the core mediums of the piece.
The commission will be completed to coincide with the refurbishment of the Townhall with a showcase in September 2019 and in conjunction with Culture Night 20th September.
There are 15 places available as part of this free arts development opportunity. It is available to adults only and places will be allocated on a first come basis.
This project is supported by PEACE IV Programme, SEUPB and Cavan County Council Arts Office.
