The authors and artists featured in this anthology weren't born with smartphones or Google Maps or other location finders, but they do have something arguably more powerful in terms of orientation:storytelling.

Their creative work is full of longing and a rousing call to get us back into our own landscapes and away from the physical and cerebral torpor of screens and phones, a homily on the warmth of simpler more contented times.   There are echoes of poetry, shades of comedy and gleanings of wisdom from previous generations Most of all the stories and artworks in this collection are maps through which we can find our own place in the world, and upon which we can project our own memories, loves and fears.
