Cruinniú na nÓg 2019

Cavan was alive with creative chaos on Saturday for Cruinniú na nÓg, 2019

A flagship initiative of the Creative Ireland Programme's commitment to enable the creativity of every child and young person. Now in its second year, Cruinniú na nóg celebrates and encourages children and young people to get creative.

A diverse programme of free creative and cultural activities co-ordinated by Cavan County Council and the Local Arts in Education Partnership, CMETB took place across Cavan with parents, families and young people coming out in force to have some creative fun!

Storyteller and singer Helena Byrne enthralled with her interactive fables! Children from Butlersbridge NS entertained with their self-composed piece of music under the direction of artist Daragh Slacke.

The Artful Badger explored the theme of diversity within the classroom with children from St Mary’s NS, Crosserlough culminating in the unveiling of a school mural on Saturday. Artist Clara Rayburn McCabe used music and drama to explore the themes of friendship, anti-bullying and mental health. Dowra Courthouse played host to artist Bee Smith and students from Curravagh NS as they took over the space and turned it into a creative writing hub!

A children’s festival of creativity took place at The Ramor Theatre with interactive workshops facilitated by artists Trina McCann, Andrew Lynch and Gerry Sheannon. An exhibition of ceramics created by children from Knocktemple NS, facilitated by artist Eimear Crowe was also on display.
